Sundays at Piknic Electronik

I am a little overdue on this post but better late than never right?
But what is Piknic Electronik if not an awesome way to relax on sundays before the week starts again?

Situated in the Parc Jean Drapeau, this electro music festival is doing everything right! DJ from all around the world come each sunday to play from 2 to 7 in an awesome outdoor setting!

And the best thing is, you don’t even have to be a huge electo fan to enjoy your day!

There are two stages with two DJ at the same time playing awesome music!
Here is this Sunday’s lineup:

If you want to be on top of everything, download the app you’ll have  the programming schedules at your fingertips, as well as descriptions of artists, photos and videos of the event.

What I would bring:

–  A small cross body bag
– Sunscreen – SPF is super important as everything is outside and we all know what a summer in Mtl means
– Bottle of water – normally they won’t bother you with this one! But better not rub it in their faces!
– Cash – 15$ entry ticket (actually its a bracelet) + what you want to drink (I strongly recommend getting buckets)
– smartphone or camera to immortalize your day

What I would wear:

My biggest tip is to dress as you would feel the most confortable! Keep your makeup simple and don’t overdo your foundation, the summer is hot and adding sunscreen won’t do your face justice!

Option 1:
– a pair of denim shorts is a music festival staples
– either a lace of a daity top with a floral kimono
– nude sandals

Option 2:
– a pair of black shorts
– a plain grey tee
– a flower crown and red lipstick

I wouldn’t recommend wearing a dress or skirt as every time I went I ended up sitting on the grass to chill

How to get there:

Take the metro and get off at the Parc Jean Drapeau Station, after that you are right in the center of the festival and won’t have any problem finding your way!
Now the only thing you have to worry about is dancing until the sun goes down!

The Summer Edit

20140721-235433-86073297.jpg

A girl’s makeup changes a lot throughout the seasons but one thing we can all agree on is that less is more in the summer!

So here is what I wear on a summer day.

– a good mascara, the only time I buy waterproof mascara

– under eye concealer, its the summer but we still have to cover those bags we accumulated this year

– brown eye liner (for when you want your eye look to be a little bit more intense)

– bronzer (only in the beginning of the summer) to warm up the contour of the face

– a pink bush (you really only need a little bit)

And that’s it! There really is no need for more.
As for my night look I darken things up a little working from the base I already have on.

– black eyeliner in the waterline

– orangy-red lipstick, I prefer mine matt

– and you can’t forget the bows, I darken mine and apply brow gel to keep them into place

My year long fragrance is the Daisy by Marc Jacobs as it is a light flowery scent that works well in the summer heat and warms up in the winter.

Here you have it, my summer edit!

My summer nail polish Picks

Summer is here, flowers are bright, the sun is shining and leaves are as green as they could ever be! Its the perfect occasion to be wearing the more colors one could wear either on your clothes, lips or nails.

Summer is my favorite time of the year to wear bright colors on my nails! Truthfully I never have bare nails during the summer!

To apply these crazy colors, I first put a Base Coat to protect my nails from that nasty reddish color that red nail polish leaves on my nails and also to make my polish stay longer! And of course don’t forget top coat for shine, fast dry and to keep your beautiful color longer!

Here is my 4 most favorite colors that never leave my sight during the summer!

red: Revlon Colorstay in Red Carpet
pink: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Coral Reef
orange: Revlon Colorstay in Marmelade
blue: Bourjois Ultra Shine So Laque in Bleu Fabuleux

On your marks … go … PAINT!

Tam Tam

The other day I met this guy on the streets and he asked me what was the best way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. So obviously I told him about Tam Tam.

Tam Tam is a meeting of Montrealers in the bottom of Mont Royal every Sunday afternoon! This tradition has been going on for over 40 years as soon as the snow melts until the winter starts again. A lot of people meet up to chill out after a long week of work, school or partying.

Most Sundays, there is a group of Tam Tam players (equivalent of a djembe) that gave the name to this incredible reunion. They play at the bottom of the park adjacent to Avenue du Parc.
However if that’s not your thing, there is other music playing higher up on the hill.

You can just do anything you want, smoke a little, drink a little, listen to good music, suntan, enjoy life with friends…

Date and Time: Every Sunday from noon till dawn

Location: Parc Jeanne-Mance

How to get there: Get off the Metro at Place des Arts and go up Rue de Bleury and Avenue du Parc either by walking (around 20 min walk) or take the 80 bus and get off at the Avenue des Pins intersection.

What to bring: Food, Drinks, Smokes and friends.

For the love of Poutine

If you’re traveling to Montreal even for the shortest period, it would be a shame if you didn’t try at least one poutine.

For all of you who are still wondering what the fusk I’m talking about, fasten your seatbelt:
Poutine is a traditional Montreal dish composed of french fries covered in melted cheese topped with gravy and meat! Of course there are many different variations of this famous dish but I’ll pass the details.

You can find this marvelous invention nearly everywhere! From bars to shady restaurants it’s everywhere!

As for the price, it’s nearly the most inexpensive meal one could find at any hour of the day or the night!

Street art made in Montreal

If you like to visit a city where the art is in museums as well as in the city Montreal should be your first pick!
It won’t take long before you notice paint on the walls in streets on the Plateau like St Laurent, St Denis or Mount Royal!
Here are the ones I’ve noticed this summer:

(and the best thing is that it’s always changing, at mural festival a bunch of artists redid several of the tags)

The Key to a Perfect Tan

Isn’t it the dream of every girls? Meet up in September with golden legs, freckles on you cheekbones and almost invisible tan lines?
No matter what anyone tells you, it is not too late to prepare your skin for the summer.

1. The key to a nice tan (without the crocodile skin) is hydration.
Don’t have dead hand on the moisturizer that will make all the difference if you want to keep this beautiful tan in September.
My favorite for over a year is my Body Garnier Intensive 7 Days (the mango). It’s lightweight and if applied after the shower, it is absorbed very quickly into the skin and does not stick to clothing.

2. For your skin to regenerate faster, do not hesitate to use a scrub to get rid of dead skin cells.
Ideally,  use the scrub once or twice a week on the legs, arms and chest.
The Body Shop has a wide range of scents scrubs mango chocolate through cherry or vanilla.

3. If you want to boost the tan, I have three ideas to swipe your ear.
– The simplest is simply the carrot. I can see you smile at your screen but it’s true, carrots help to amplify the effect of sunlight. They are full of beta-carotene, supposedly anti oxidant that will make your tan less gray and dull.
So of course, I do not recommend that you change your diet to a cure of carrot but a glass of carrot juice or a carrot a day is more than enough to start.
– I also tried last summer the combination of vitamins AEC. This combination of antioxidant and reduces the risk of sunburn.
– Finally, dietary supplements especially for the sun. These small capsules to be taken two weeks before exposure and continue for two weeks during your holidays have the advantage of preparing your skin to the sun and amplify the effects of tanning. I bought my first cure last night, I’ll write a new post when I’ll have tested it for a while.

And of course, when you’re outside, don’t forget to protect your skin with loads of sunscreen (apply every 2 hours)
